01

Michael Antrobus (b.1986) is a British designer based in Copenhagen. After graduating from Kingston University’s Product and Furniture Design course he worked for design studios in Spain and Austria before returning to London where he worked for the sculptor Antony Gormley and later at Tom Dixon. He moved to Denmark in 2016 where he founded his own studio.

Open-minded and experimental, his practice is characterised by a hands-on ethos that explores the potential of craft techniques and industrial processes. Rather than preconceiving forms, the parameters that define a project are refined and developed through an active making process, evolving in response to the natural properties of materials and the opportunities and limitations of production.

Ideas are continually refined through research, experimentation, modelling, testing and prototyping with observations distilled into clear, coherent objects that emphasise the essential; Finding harmony in structure, geometry and materials.

The studio designs furniture, lighting and accessories for serial and industrial production, with the ambition to create enduring, sustainable objects that enhance our surroundings and improve the way we live.
